Complete Guide For ESIC Stenographer Examination
Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is an organization which comes under Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. The offices of ESIC are located in every State of the Country. The recruitment process for ESIC is in the hands of the organization itself. It recruits staff for almost every year. In this Blog we will get to know the whole process of recruitment for ESIC Stenographer along with important study material.
Scale of Pay:-
According to new 7th Central Pay Commission for the post is Level 4 and it is used in Pay Matrix
(Civilian employees) with Basic Pay Rs. 25500/-. According to 6th CPC it was called in terms of Grade Pay and the grade pay for this post was 2400/-.
Essential Qualification required for the post:-
Intermediate (pass in 12th standard or equivalent from any Government recognized board)
Shorthand Speed of 80 words per minute in either language English or Hindi.
Candidate should have knowledge of Computer including use of Office Suites and databases.
Age Limit:-
Minimum and Maximum age limit is 18 and 27.
Age relaxation permissible beyond the upper age limit is as follows:-
SC/ST - 05 years
OBC - 3 years
For Physically Handicapped Candidates in Categories Unreserved - 10 years, Other Backward Classes - 13 years & Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes - 15 years .
Phases of Examination:-
There are two phases of ESIC Stenographer Examination.
1. Main Written Examination will have three subjects with the following marking scheme:-
English Language & Comprehension - 100 Questions of 100 Marks within 70 minutes
Reasoning Ability - 50 Questions of 50 Marks within 35 minutes
General Awareness - 50 Questions of 50 Marks within 25 minutes
Marks scored in Phase 1 will be considered for Final Merit. There will be negative marking of 0.25 for attempting any wrong question. Candidates are advised to attempt only those questions in which they are sure.
2. Computer & Stenography Skill Test
Stenography Skill Test: In this the candidates will be given dictation at 80 words per minute in English or Hindi (as per candidate's choice). Candidates will have to transcribe the same on computer within 60 minutes. However, VH candidates will get 85 minutes for English and 95 minutes for Hindi.
Computer Skill Test: In this candidates will have to create 02 power-point slides (10 marks), formatting on MS word with typing matter (20 marks), make MS Excel tables with the use of formulae (20 marks). Candidates will be given 30 minutes time to complete this Test.
The Phase 2 is of qualifying nature and its marks will not be included for final merit.
Level of Examination
It has been observed in recent years that the Level of Written Examination is really good. The English Language & Comprehension portion is quite tough whereas the other two subjects remain easy to moderate level. Candidates are advised to focus more on English Language so that they can score good and increase their chances of selection.
The Level of Stenography Skill Test is not that much hard. The pattern of dictations looks like Parliamentary Debates, however, candidates are advised to practice matters of every type so that they don't face difficulty in Stenography Skill Test.
If you are preparing for SSC Stenographer Examination then you don't have to worry much about the study material. However, it has been observed that in General Awareness portion questions of Current Affairs will be the one you'll encounter the most. Candidates are advised to keep an eye on current affairs of last 1 year for better results.

ReplyDeleteSir, my Father's name printed in class X certificate is " BASHANT SHARMA" but in class 12th certificate it is "BASANT KUMAR SHARMA" will it create any problem during Document Verification of SSC Stenographer ????
